The late Zaurbiy Magometovich Naloev (Nalo) lived between 1928 and 2012. He was an AdyghePoet, writer, scientist, and the people’s writer of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic. The late ZaurNalo was one of the first Circassians who openly defended the preservation of the Circassianlanguage, culture, and heritage.Between 1979 and 1987, he served as the head of the Kabardian-Balkarian Folklore and LiteratureResearch Institute.In 1990, hewas elected as a member of the Kabardino-Balkarian parliament. He was also one ofthe Circassians who established the Circassian Association (Adyge Khasa) in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic and was elected as the first Chairman of the Adyge Khasa.In 1991, the late Zaur Nalo participated in the First International Circassian meeting that was heldin Holland where the participants planned and agreed on organizing the First InternationalCircassian Congress in Nalchik. He actively participated in draftingthe charters of theInternational Circassian Association that was established in 1991 and he served on the Councilbetween 1991 and 1993.He attended many national and international conferences and authored over 200 scientific papers,articles, and research reports. He authored 7 monograms and a collection of articles on Adygeyanphilology and cultural history. Moreover, he commissioned the following masterpieces that werepublished in three volumes: “Essays on the History of the Kabardian Literature” and”Folk songsand Instrumental Tunes of the Circassians”.The late Zaur Nalo wrote extensively about the famous Circassian leader and philosopher”Qazanouqa Jabagh” who is considered the most significant politician in Kabarda during the firsthalf of the 18th century, and he authored the fundamental work “The Legend of QazanouqaJabagh”.His academic activities were wide-ranging and comprehensive. He collected and restored manylost Adyghe Folklore stories via personal communications with Circassian residentsin villagesand remote areas in the Caucasus during his numerous scientific expeditions.He prepared and published the “Адаб баксанского культурного движения” in 1991, amasterpiece on the Advancement of the Baksan culture and literature. He also published the worksof Betal Kuashev and Khasan Elberdov (1991), Dzhansoh Naloev (2004), and Ismail Klishbiev(2009). He collected, organized, and compiled scientific findings for the following publications:”Anthology of Kabardian Poetry” (1957) and “Anthology of early Adyge Literature” (2010).Furthermore, he published «Институт джегуако», comprehensive research that he worked on for25 years. This work examines one of the most interesting phenomena of traditional folk culture,which has centuries-old traditions in the history of the Adyghe people and has been repeatedlynoted by many domestic and foreign researchers.His research work is taught at all Humanities Research Institutes in the Kabardino-BalkarianRepublic, the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic, and theRepublic of Adygea. The Late Nalo is anexpert in Adygean Literature, who made a tremendous contribution to the creation of an anthology of Adyghe poetry. Many of his works on poets were included in the collected Kabardian classics.His work is taught inschools and at universities as part of the Circassian literature studies. Hecollected Adyghe fairy tales in “One hundred fairy tales”. Furthermore, he translated fairy talesfrom other cultures to the Circassian language. His book “The lonely Crane” isconsidered a milestone in Kabardian Literature. The imagescreated by Zaur Nalo are distinguished by the philosophical depth and the highest artisticperfection.Until his last days, Zaur Nalo wrote fiction and scientific texts, supported young writers andscientists
