Who & Why

The Circassian Culture Association in Nuremberg, Germany and the Circassian Repatriation Organization (CRO) are organizing “The Second International Circassian Conference” this fall. The conference is going to be held at the Karl-Bröger-Zentrum in Nuremberg, Germany between October 18th and October 20th, 2019. The participants of the First International Circassian Conference concluded during the discussion to hold the Second International Circassian Conference in 2019 and it was recommended to organize it in Europe. It was also concluded to consider the Circassian Language as the official language of the Second International Circassian Conference, however, it was agreed that the participants are welcome to present their talks in any language they wish or feel comfortable with. Participants are encouraged to submit an English translation with their contributions. The organizers will do their best to provide simultaneous interpretation to Circassian or English for all talks. The International Circassian Conference is designed to work as a platform of Circassian activists, intellectuals, professionals and businessmen to meet and exchange ideas and expertise. The Circassian communities in the motherland and in diaspora are very rich of experts in various fields and it is extremely important to create a platform that can be utilized to bring all these experts together. The motto for this conference is “what connects us” and there are many themes that fit under this, such as education, economy, business, innovation, art, culture, music, history and many others. However, there are several key aspects that are considered to be the cornerstones of all the various Circassian issues mentioned above and it is highly essential to address these key topics during this conference in order to move forward with the Circassian society in a positive and constructive manner. The program of the conference will extend over three days, where the first two days will be dedicated for presentations and activities and the third day will be devoted for discussions, planning and exchange of ideas. The successful planning of this multidisciplinary conference can only be achieved by the support and participation of activists and experts on all Circassian related issues from the motherland and worldwide. Therefore, the organizers would like to invite Circassian associations, activists, intellectuals, professionals and businessmen to participate in this conference not just by attending but also by presenting their ideas and experience. We are looking forward to receiving abstracts from those who would like to participate in this conference. Furthermore, participants are requested to submit a short biography along with a photo. Abstracts are accepted until September 1st, 2019. Colleagues who need a Visa to attend the conference in Germany are encouraged to contact the German embassies in their countries as early as possible, as the visa acquisition procedure might take two months.
